You can 100% do calligraphy as a lefty! I get this question all the time, and there are tons of amazing left-handed calligraphers out there. A few quick tips for you:
β
βοΈ Start with brush pens - They dry faster, so they'll help you reduce smudging. Something like a Tombow Fudenosuke is super lefty-friendly.
β
π Use smooth paper - Rhodia or tracing paper are both great. Smooth paper will help you avoid fraying your pen as much as possible (which can be a bigger issue for lefties!)
β
π Angle your paper - Keep playing with your paper angle until you find what works best for YOU - this will be different for everyone.
β
βοΈ Hold your brush pen a bit higher up - This will give you a slightly better view of what you're writing!
β
π‘ Be patient! It might take some extra adjusting, but youβve got this.
β
Lastly, I actually attempted to teach myself with my left hand so that I would better understand and be able to give you tips. You can see what I learned here!
