Happy July Reader!
This week has been so much fun - celebrating Canada Day, prepping for ShowMeYourDrills (we start Monday!), and working on some fun things behind the scenes. π
βShowMeYourDrills, my free beginners calligraphy course, is back, and we start on Monday! I am seriously SO excited to bring it back after two years, and I can hardly wait to kick off next week. If you're interested, you can read more details below!
For this week's new video, I critiqued my own calligraphy! I'm also sharing some clarification on the differences between calligraphy, fonts, and hand lettering.
If you have ANY questions just hit reply π

β
In the free course, you'll get:
βοΈ Full access to an online course portal (just like a paid course, but it's free!) ββοΈ 20+ videos ββοΈ Supplies PDF guide βοΈ Full printable, traceable workbooksβ βοΈ Access to a private FB group (and 5 "mentors" to help answer your questions!) ββοΈ The very best (& most supportive) community of other beginners to learn with
β
The new semester starts on Monday - I hope to see you there!

This is a VERY hard question to answer, because it can vary so much from person to person. The only general instruction I can give here is to make sure you feel confident in the quality of your basic strokes (they're not shaky, they're fairly consistent, the shapes look correct, etc) before trying letters. Consistency in your strokes is key, because if they're not consistent then your letters won't be either - and you'll get frustrated! β Then, give your letters a try. If they look wonky, it's almost a guarantee that it's because your basic strokes weren't consistent/practiced enough!! Go back and practice more until the basic strokes are solid muscle memory.
